Logistics and More

Location: Lombard Historical Society, Sheldon Peck Homestead, 355 E. Parkside Avenue, Lombard, Illinois. This is at the southwest corner of Parkside, Grace, and St. Charles Road, just south of the Metra tracks. The picnic will take place in the open area behind the Homestead. Sheldon Peck Homestead is part of the Lombard Historical Society and contains exhibits inside about Sheldon Peck and his family, and also about the Homestead’s history as a way station on the Underground Railroad. Please take a few minutes to explore the exhibits.

Parking: There is limited parking on the grounds, and we are reserving these for handicapped parking and for people bringing in supplies. Parking is available at the Lombard Commons parking lot on the east side of Grace. There are entrances on Grace and St. Charles.

Restrooms: There is a restroom in the Homestead. Additional restrooms are available in the park district building.

What should I bring: This is a potluck. Please bring a dish to share out of your cultural background. It can be a main dish, salad, dessert, or (non-alcoholic) beverage. You can also bring camp chairs, lawn chairs, and (if you want) a popup tent. The Historical Society does not permit stakes. If you need weights, we will have gallon jugs of water and twine for the tent.

Please note: The Historical Society does not permit cooking or grilling, smoking, alcohol, or drugs on the premises. If you have a drum, please bring it for the drum circle. There will be drums available if you do not have one.

In case of rain, the event will move one mile west to the First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main Street (corner of Main and Maple), Lombard, Illinois.
